Fiamma Fumana, from Italy,
play Northern Italian traditional music with a contemporary attitude
and new beats. Fiamma is Italian for "flame" = the energy
of the present. Fumana means "fog" or "mist"
= the mysterious resilience of the past. A predominantly female
ensemble, this group is on a continuing mission to remember what
is today being forgotten in their local culture and bring the songs
to pop music. A cummulative sound that mixes "club beats and
folk virtuosity... credible in both dance clubs and coffeehouses,"

Since their first studio
album on Omnium Records, 1.0, FF have evolved into
an effective five-member live act: Roberta Carrieri
(vocals) / Alberto Cottica (accordion, guitar, piano) / Jessica
Lombardi (Piva Emiliana bagpipes, flute, bodhran) / Medhin
Paolos (electronics, DJ) / Paolo Perego (drums).
In 2003, the group signed with SRO Artists, Inc. for an extended
US premiere in support of their second release on Omnium, entitled
Home. The sohpomore recording featured Mondine di
Novi (the Novi Rice Weeders Choir) and ushered in a new program
entitled, Di
Madre in Figlia (From Mother to Daughter). Summer 2006,
the quartet released their third critically acclaimed release with
Omnium Records, Onda.
